Description
Bridget Kendall attended the Perse School for Girls in Cambridge. She studied Modern Languages at Oxford University, specifically at Lady Margaret Hall, and later pursued Soviet studies at St. Anthony’s College, also at Oxford. Additionally, she spent two years as a Harkness Fellow at Harvard University. She joined the BBC in 1983 as a graduate trainee and over more than thirty years became a highly respected international correspondent. She has always had a keen interest in Russia, speaks fluent Russian, and from 1989 to 1993, she served as the BBC Moscow correspondent, witnessing the collapse of the Soviet Union and conflicts in Chechnya, Georgia, Tajikistan, Kosovo, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Syria, and Ukraine. From 1994 to 1998, she was the BBC Washington correspondent.
